Experience

Jay Yurow brings more than 25 years of experience to clients who buy, sell, finance and lease hotels, office and apartment properties, shopping centers, hospitals, warehouse buildings and undeveloped land. Jay has managed hundreds of transactions involving individual properties, and served as the lead attorney on portfolio sales and financing transactions involving as many as 100 properties.

Representing both borrowers and lenders in credit transactions secured by real estate or the equity interests in entities owning real estate, Jay has closed scores of hotel finance deals throughout the United States. In addition, he has closed construction, permanent and mezzanine loans involving office buildings, shopping centers, and warehouse facilities. Jay also provides guidance in the negotiations between loan participants, and between credit-enhancers and lenders.

Working with litigation and bankruptcy colleagues, Jay counsels both lender and borrower clients on strategies and options for restructuring defaulted debt obligations.

Jay has assisted Marriott International, Inc. and its lending affiliate, Marriott International Capital Corporation, in creating and implementing a national hotel finance program to provide financing for the construction and operation of Marriott-franchised and Marriott-managed properties. Jay also assists Marriott in establishing and maintaining "partnering relationships" with institutional lenders who provide financing for Marriott branded properties.

Prior to joining LTB, Jay was a partner with Venable, LLP in its Real Estate Transactions Group.
